Special Education – Advocacy

As a parent of a special needs student, you know how challenging it can be to attempt to navigate, let alone master the complicated and established institution of public education …

At Pinnacle, we have the experience from both sides of the desk, as not only professional teachers who have identified students for services, but also from personal experience as the parents of special education students. We’ve been there. We’ve done that … We don’t want you to go through the same experience, so we’re here to give you a hand, lighten your load and guide you.

Our special education advocates are not only experts in their field, having taught special education students in both the public and private sectors, but also possess special education credentials. In addition, they are given continuing education regarding the special education laws surrounding all aspects of the students we encounter.Elementary school class with teacher

As a result, our advocates not only work hard to get the students the correct treatment / education they are deserving of, but also to educate the parents on parent and student rights so the parent can become an effective self advocate for their child now and in the future.

In addition to advocating for students, we also provide special education services directly to students in public schools ensuring compliance with IEP goals and objectives allowing for continuous access to the most recent and current IDEA laws, practices, and procedures.

Our services are individual and varied to meet the specific needs of the student but include the following:

  • Intake interview in our offices / in your home for parents and student.
  • Full review of your child’s school records to include: IEP, 504 plans, transition plans, and behavior support or intervention plans.
  • Provide resources, referrals, and other information to assist you and your child such as: Parent education on Student’s rights & Parent’s rights and assistance in obtaining supplemental services.
  • Preparation for upcoming IEP, 504, transition, behavior plans, SST meetings.
  • Attendance at IEP, 504, transition, behavior plan, and SST meetings.
